PostHeaderIcon Who Will Host 2016 Olympics

Who module patron the 2016 Olympics? That’s the question on everyone’s mind today and people ask what the International athletics Committee is thinking. The 2016 Summer Olympics, (officially the Games of the XXXI Olympiad,) are still just in the planning phase. Not such has been shapely yet. No homes hit been prepared for the athletes, no new stadiums are going up, but still, whatever cities had lined up around the world to effort for the athletics glory. Twenty-Six cities to be exact, had shown whatever interest in trying to patron the games, from Bangkok to metropolis from Doha to Dubai, but now it is down to just four contenders. Four cities on four continents who are hoping to hit athletics glory grace their shores. And only one module succeed. Here is a perturbation of the cities and their bids:olympics_rio_432

Chicago, Illinois, USA
Chicago’s says that it has 15 different sports venues already shapely within the city and that it would build one new venue plus an athletics Village in order to patron the games. The city has also said it would build figure more temporary structures to help house the athletics games - places that would be scrapped and replaced by something else erst the games are over. The city has also guaranteed at least $750 Million toward the costs of the games and is hoping to raise $2 Billion in sponsorships for the games.

Madrid, Spain
Madrid certainly has the backing of its’ citizenry, but they hit problems with infrastructure. Many of the venues that would be needed for the Games are not yet shapely and they would need to complete everything in record time, making for a serious concern about the viability of their bid. One thing in their favor though is that unlike Chicago, the plans they hit drawn up do show them using the buildings of the athletics Village for other purposes erst the games are concluded.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio Rio has one thing going for it: They hit never hosted the athletics games and there has in fact never been an athletics games anywhere in South USA in the history of the games. This is a powerful emotional effort for them. That fact itself still may not be enough. They lack open transportation to get around the city and frankly, the 2014 World Cup module be held here so it’s not like international competitions never come.

Tokyo, Japan
Just 55 percent of the residents of this bustling metropolis support bringing the athletics to their town. In addition to that issue, while the money is there for the bids and no one is concerned about that, the open transportation situation in Tokyo leaves such to be desired. So who module patron the 2016 Olympics? At this point, it’s anyone’s guess.

PostHeaderIcon Cricket Hall of Fame Inducts First Female

aIn the fall of 2005, the Cricket Hall of Fame held it’s annual Induction Ceremony, which included the recognition of Barbados native Barbara P. Lindo. Best known for her work in the community of Hartford and other outstanding contributions to the sport of cricket, Lindo became the first woman to be inducted in the Cricket Hall of Fame. In addition, this honor will also mark the first occasion that a husband and wife team will be in the Cricket Hall of Fame. Lindo’s husband, Cyrus, was an earlier inductee.sport

The location for the historical ceremony was the Marriott Hotel, Adriaen’s Landing in downtown Hartford. On October 1, 2005, an impressive list of former international cricket stars were inducted in addition to Lindo. Among them, the former West Indies fast bowler, Andy Roberts and Indian leg-spinner Bhagwat Chandrasekhar. Roberts is known for being a very intelligent cricketer and, during one point in his career, set the then-record for being the quickest cricketer as he took less than two and a half years to reach 100 Test wickets. Chandrasekhar, on the other hand, remains India’s largest match winner overseas with 42 wickets in only five tests. Unpredictable at times, it is said that no other cricketer was more likely to deliver an unplayable ball. In addition, popular West Indian cricket journalist Tony Becca joined the hall. Becca recently retired as Sports Editor for the Gleaner newspaper and is one of the most celebrated writers in the Carribean region.

Two other cricket personalities, Alvin “Al” Watson of Hartford/Florida and Carlyle Miller of New York was also inducted for outstanding contributions to the sport of cricket in the United States.

In every sport, just as with cricket, the Hall of Fame serves as a permanent structure used to celebrate the accomplishments of the sport’s most outstanding players and contributors. Often a popular tourist attraction, Halls of Fame are known for both their historic value, many photo opportunities and a place for fans to gather as their favorite cricket legends are forever inducted into history.

As females continue their increasing participation in sports and in history, Barbara P. Lindo achieved yet another milestone in the world of cricket and history in general. Her induction marks a precedent that will be set for other women who need encouragement and will find that in Lindo’s accomplishments and recognition.

PostHeaderIcon Beware of a Common Pitfall in Golf Putting

Now you are on the green, holding your putter, facing the pin and trying to evaluate the shape of that area between your golf ball and the hole. Forget about the strokes needed to reach the green. That’s past, that’s history. And because it’s not the right time to put pressure on you, forget also

a) that the last few yards on the green can take more strokes than the 3 or 4 hundred yards between the tee and the green

b) there’s no such thing as a recovery for a missed putt

Let’s assume that you are aware of all that and take golf putting seriously. So, the most important thing you desperately need now is to know the slope of your putting area, that is the green’s zone your ball will cross on its way to the hole. You observe carefully from the ball’s side and there’s no doubt it will break slightly say, from north to south (n/s). Now, let’s have a look from the other side to get a clearer picture. And . . . oops! It breaks slightly from south to north (s/n).

Now you have a big problem that all of us (who look from both sides) faced several times. If your group is alone on the golf course and your buddies aren’t pushing too much, you can repeat the entire process but the results won’t change. Perhaps it’s because the shadows are distorting the image or, perhaps, some objects in front of you (trees, fences, etc) are giving you a wrong perception. Still more likely, perhaps you are a biased observer. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps! But the truth is that the data your eyes sent to your CPU are not coincident, so your brain gets confused with that and any commands coming to your muscles will reflect that dilemma. It’s easy to predict there’s trouble ahead.
